COMO APRENDI A CONFIAR

Dificilmente alguém irá ler em minhas publicações alguma frase pronta tipo:

“Você tem que confiar em Deus”. Este foi apenas um exemplo. Ninguém aprende de fora para dentro, por isso eu entendo que o indivíduo pode ler 10 mil livros, e provavelmente não sairá do lugar. Os livros são válidos quando são acompanhados pelas experiências que vivemos. Neste caso eles podem trazer insights importantes.

Vejam como foi o meu aprendizado sobre a confiança.

Em 1994 durante a primeira viagem, Miami à Ilhabela, nós tínhamos um cronograma apoiado na meteorologia. Por isso tivemos que velejar no Caribe durante o primeiro semestre até o início de maio (época que não tem furacões), para coincidir a nossa jornada pela parte fluvial da viagem, entrando no Rio Orinoco na cheia dele nos meses de maio e junho.

Desta forma era preciso respeitar as datas, mas por ter sido a primeira viagem, não tínhamos nenhuma experiência, e era difícil prever o que poderia acontecer.

Os dois barcos saíram carregados de Miami, e este excesso de peso inicial foi causando algumas quebras que foram nos atrasando.

Para um perfil controlador e perfeccionista como o meu estes eventos inicialmente foram um desafio, pois mexiam com o meu humor, e me deixavam contrariado.

Eu ficava contrariado pois queria que tudo acontecesse como eu queria, e se caso algo saísse do meu controle, eu entendia que estávamos colhendo os nossos erros de planejamento.

Vejam quanta coisa interessante pode-se enxergar. Eu não estava lidando bem com os erros possivelmente por ser orgulhoso e mimado. Esta atitude esta apoiada na falta de humildade, e isso fatalmente me levava a ser uma pessoa que agia com pouca flexibilidade.

Mas aconteceu algo mágico que eu percebi, e me ajudou muito a começar a descontruir esta rigidez.

A cada quebra do barco fomos obrigados a desviar a nossa rota, ou interrompê-la por alguns dias, e assim começamos a conhecer lugares e pessoas que nunca teríamos a oportunidade de encontrar. O interessante destes encontros é que eles sempre foram recheados de generosidade por aqueles que nos socorreram. Não foram poucos, e já escrevi sobre alguns aqui em meus diários.

Estes acontecimentos despertaram dentro de mim inicialmente uma curiosidade que me deixava intrigado, e ao mesmo tempo encantado, até que um dia quando o barco quebrou eu me perguntei: “Onde irei parar, quem irei conhecer?”. Neste dia encontrei uma pessoa que me fez entender que eu precisava nesta vida trocar apenas um olhar para aprender algo importante dentro de mim.

Foi neste instante que eu comecei a me observar e perceber que não valia a pena resistir ao imponderável, e que a viagem iria acontecer dentro de muitas incertezas. Este era um teste de confiança.

Ao enxergar o ser controlador em mim, comecei a entender que isso era fruto da minha falta de confiança nos mecanismos da Vida, e consequentemente em mim. Por medo de perceber esta minha fragilidade eu agia de modo rígido. Mas o que é rígido quebra mais fácil do que é flexível, e eram justamente as peças rígidas do barco que estavam sempre nos trazendo problemas.

Estes eventos foram um vendaval dentro me mim nesta época, pois começaram a varrer para longe a ideia de ser controlador a ponto de estragar uma viagem tão espetacular. Mas este foi apenas o início de uma longa jornada para entender sobre uma simples palavra que pode ser como uma estrada quase sem fim. A aceitação.

Quando eu aceitei os acontecimentos incontroláveis, eu passei a ser mais humilde, mais flexível e confiante. A viagem foi longa, ela durou 289 dias, e ao longo desta região tropical, as quentes brisas dos ventos alísios aqueceram o meu coração, me dando a oportunidade de rever minhas atitudes.

O interessante desta história é observar que as oportunidades chegam em nossas vidas de várias formas, e o que inicialmente pode ser entendido como um castigo, punição ou problemas, é na verdade um jeito amoroso e capcioso que a Vida tem de chamar a nossa atenção sobre alguns aspectos da nossa consciência.

Neste caso eu fui agraciado com a visita de um vento que suavemente me deu uma opção para eu entender as coisas de uma forma mais amorosa em minha vida.

Eu tinha apenas duas opções. Aceitar ou não. É neste sentido que eu entendo a Vida. Temos sempre apenas duas escolhas, ou a Luz ou a Sombra.

TRÊS LIÇÕES EPISTEMOLÓGICAS PARA QUALQUER UM

No nosso começo, havíamos nós e o mundo.

Apesar de nada sabermos a respeito das engrenagens mundanas, conseguimos sobreviver.

Lição número três: tente entender alguns princípios a partir dos erros cometidos, visando não cometê-los repetidamente.

Eu costumava dar aula sobre essas três lições para alunos de faculdade. Quase sempre que terminava a explicação, surgia alguma dúvida do tipo: 

"Professor, ok, eu entendi que sobreviver é mais importante que tudo, mas por que não posso entender as paradas antes de ficar perdendo tempo com tentativa & erro? Tentativa & erro pode levar meses!".

Eu começava respondendo que tentativa & erro não leva meses, you wish that was true. Leva, tipicamente, dez mil horas. As mesmas dez mil horas por trás da piscadela do Malcolm Gladwell.

E depois ia pro cerne da pergunta, que tem a ver com o mundo maluco no qual viemos parar.

Nesse mundo, o único que conhecemos por enquanto, os fatos que estão disponíveis ao nosso redor frequentemente são pouquíssimo importantes. 

Por outro lado, outros fatos genuinamente relevantes não estão disponíveis.

O grão de desconhecimento vale dez mil vezes mais que uma montanha de informação.
